Softpolis is a network of technology companies and educational/research establishments.
Softpolis Island is growing
Quite a number of IT companies thrive within the premises of Softpolis Raahe Ltd. The first premises for IT companies were commissioned and built on the street of Rantakatu in Raahe in 1993. Today, Softpolis Raahe Real Estate Company manages premises totalling 16 300 square metres. The company is prepared to commission and build new premises for companies in the future as well.
Research, development and educational activities boost business
Softpolis serves as a meeting point for innovative people and companies. The research, development and educational activities are carried out by such establishments as University of Oulu, Technical Research Centre of Finland (VTT), Pehr Brahe Software Laboratory and Raahe Institute of Computer Engineering and Business, which is part of Oulu Polytechnic.
Softpolis is an active part of Multipolis, which is a network based on the strategic goals set for the Northern Finland. An essential part of Softpolis is Werstas, the centre of expertise for content production and information technology, which is located in the Municipality of Ruukki.
ProMetal – a Centre of Expertise program for metal industry – is an essential part of the Softpolis network. In Raahe, the cooperation within metal industry has been coordinated by Steelpolis. Companies in both IT and metal industry in Northern Finland benefit greatly from the synergy between Softpolis and Steelpolis.
